Start More Conversations
Having open, honest conversations is one of the most powerful ways to prevent substance use and support healthy decision-making. This digital toolkit was created to help organizations, schools and community partners promote more of these conversations at home, in classrooms and throughout communities. We provide ready-made materials that make it easier to start meaningful conversations about alcohol, vaping, pills and other substance-use risks, while encouraging connection and understanding between parents, caregivers and youth.
This “plug-and-play” toolkit includes:
- Social media content (including text, graphics, and videos) to engage parents, caregivers and youth in open, ongoing conversations about substance use
- Resources for learning how to start the conversation, listen with empathy and build lasting trust
- Promotional materials to raise awareness about substances and help normalize open dialogue across your community
The toolkit was created to act as a one-stop shop for Open Conversation SC’s partner organizations. Please share with your audiences across social media channels and beyond. Download files below to get started.
Open Conversation SC prevents underage substance use and substance use adoption by providing parents the resources they need to #TalkEarlyTalkOften. Family connection and support help develop lifelong prevention skills!
The number one way to reduce substance use in South Carolina is to use primary prevention – parents and guardians talking to kids! Research shows that those who try substances at a young age are at an increased risk of developing a substance use disorder. That’s why #OpenConversationSC provides learning resources, icebreakers and activities to help parents start talking today.
